Why is my gas tank leaking on my Polaris?
Mine has developed a leak. It seems to be leaking right around the top. Upon closer inspection, it seems that the threaded part of the tank, the part you screw the gas cap onto, is pressed or plastic welded into the rest of the tank. Anytime I jump, wheelie, climb steep hills, or when the tank is full, my tank becomes covered in gas.
Are there any problems with the Polaris Sportsman 500?

What should octane content be for Polaris Sportsman?
Do not use fuel with an ethanol content greater than 10 percent. Octane in excess of 87 will not damage the engine but typically will not result in performance gains. The exceptions to that rule are RZR Turbo and Pro XP models.

Its a 1999 polaris sportsman 500, 45th anniverserry edition if that helps at all. Looks just like the carb in the original posters pics of the leaky nip.
