Based on my search of the web it appears that Yamaha knows about the problem and will not step up to the plate and fix it. Last Yamaha for me. I have the same bike 2003 V-Star 1100 Custom, and it is doing exactly what caiken above was describing.

Is the V Star 1100 a street bike?

Highly recommend it. :thumbsup: These bikes have the same engine. The Virago was a regular street bike, great engine. The Yamaha engines threw that engine into the V Star and design it as a Cruiser and when they did the front exhaust went over the oil filter. They should have just designed their own factory ORK and sold it on the bike.
