They may have rubbed through. This sensor is located on intake just back from air filter. If wires are good then they are likely coming loose within the actual connector to the T-bap connector. It used to take an entire wiring harness replacement to fix this although some had some home brewed solutions.
When did the Polaris check engine light recall happen?
Polaris did a recall in mid-2017 for 2016 and early 2017 Generals. The recall was to replace a steering column fastener and reprogram the ECU. Well the fastener was BS just to get you to bring your machine to a dealer. The ECU reprogramming gave us the Misfire Detection issue. I got mine done in September 2017.

So….I’m riding my 2013 800 this evening and the checkengine light flashed a couple times. By the time I got home…the light was pretty much constantly on and the Ranger seemed to be ‘bogged’ down and didn’t want to run. Had a ‘jumpy’ feeling a couple times.

Same here for a newly delivered 2018 Ranger XP 1000 EPS. “Check Engine” light came on the first time I tried to use it (1/20/2018 ). Dealer said the 655490 code was a “misfire” code. They reset it and the code did not return.

The engine light came on after driving it about 20 min. There doesn’t seem to be any performance issues. I followed the advise (above) and my code is 0 51 and the fault code is 3.
What are the ECU codes on a Polaris Ranger?
7/1/2016 – ECU codes 65590, 65591 and 65592 – They are cylinder misfire codes for cylinder #1 and cylinder #2. These codes are not in the service manual and will only come up once the ECU has been re-flashed due to a Polaris recall.
