Why does my car keep heating up?
Engines can overheat for many reasons. In general, it’s because something’s wrong within the cooling system and heat isn’t able to escape the engine compartment. The source of the issue could include a cooling system leak, faulty radiator fan, broken water pump, or clogged coolant hose.
Where does the heat go on a Harley Davidson?
Remember that your catalytic converter is on that side and both cylinders blow into it. A majority of the “increased heat” goes out the right exhaust. The higher temp is changing the color of the chrome. You will usually find this on bikes that go on extended highway trips of 200 to 500 miles a day. Don’t try to polish out the color.
When does the idle temperature management system activate?
EITMS will activate (rear cylinder will turn off) when all of the following conditions are met: Engine temperature exceeds 284 °F 140 °C (all except configuration J and L) or 324 °F 162 °C Twist grip opening is at idle Vehicle speed under 1 mph 2 km/h Engine speed under 1200 rpm
What’s the temperature of a liquid cooled Harley?
Liquid-cooled heads reduce temperatures at the upper parts of the engine, but the lower sections can still heat up. My test ride aboard the new Twin-Cooled FLHTK Ultra Limited involved long distance riding in ambient temperatures that reached the upper 80s.
What causes a Harley Davidson Road King to over heat?
Any answers what would cause this, this wasn’t the first time it happened, seems to be over heating, I use synthetic Amsoil. My bike is a 2006 Road King with 20,000 miles. You bike was over heating. Parades are torture on an air cooled engine.

What should the idle temperature be on a Harley Davidson?
The cylinder will suck in air to cool the engine. Engine temperature exceeds 284 °F 140 °C (all except configuration J and L) or 324 °F 162 °C When the engine is in EITMS operation, you may notice a difference in idle cadence. Additionally, there may be a unique exhaust odor. These are both considered to be normal conditions.
