What to do if your tire is unsafe to drive?
If I am correct, PLEASE drive directly (and slowly) to a tire shop to have this unsafe tire replaced. While small punctures in the tread area of a tire can usually be repaired, any kind of cut, puncture, separation of rubber, or any other abnormality in a tire’s sidewall cannot be safely repaired.
Why is there a small flap of rubber on my tire?
Since this part of the tire flexes each time that the tire rotates, there is an incredible amount of stress on the tire’s cords in that area and anything that changes the original structure of the sidewall is a blowout waiting to happen.
Are there mechanics that can diagnose tire problems?
They are NOT mechanics and are not capable of diagnosing anything. If they sold tires, they might glance at your tires and try to make money from selling you new rubber, but since they do not sell tires, they have ZERO interest in your tires.
What happens if a tire cord is exposed?
If the cords have not been exposed or damaged, the tires structural integrity has not been compromised…The damage is cosmetic. If the cord structure is visible, the tire is scrap. I’ve got to agree with VDC and Whitey.
What to do when rear wheel wont come out?
If the wheel doesn’t come out right away, it’s because the derailleur and chain are blocking it. To get them out of the way, keep holding the rear end of your bike off the ground by lifting the bike by the seat. Reach down with your free hand and pull back the derailleur with your hand to get it, and the chain, out of the way.
What happens when you remove the rear wheel on a bike?
On most bikes with rim brakes, when you try to remove the wheel, the tire bumps into the brake pads. This is because the brake needs to be adjusted close to the rim, while the fully inflated tire is significantly wider than the rim.
Why does my steering wheel feel like it’s loose?
Over time, the wheel bearings tend to lose lubricity, and if the bearings are not replaced in a timely manner, they can cause the wheel hub to loosen. As the vehicle drives down the road, the loose wheel will vibrate, which may be felt in the steering wheel.
How do you put a rear wheel back on?
Remember that you shifted the chain onto the smallest rear cog before you removed the wheel. So, you must put the wheel back on by first lining that smallest cog up just right so that the chain is on it. Also, pay attention to how the chain rests on the cog.
