When was the original KDX KIPS powervalve made?
This modification is based upon my 1991 Kawasaki KDX200. It should be relevant for all similar models that use the older style of KIPS powervalve. This would include 1989-1994 KDX200s.
Why is my Kx 85 KIPS power valve shaft still bogging?
The shaft is soft metal and the gear is hard. That’s the 85/100’s weak point. As for still bogging and if it’s all assembled correctly, then you have something else wrong somewhere, possibly a broken PV or the bolt holding the crossshaft to the PV, not opening the PV.
Where is the Kips line on a Kawasaki KX 85?
I have a 2006 KX 85. I recently rebuilt the top end and stupidly pulled the KIPS shaft out of the case. When my wife road it afterwards it was incredibly boggy. Trusty brother in law pulled up the rubber boot over the KIPS shaft and showed me that the dot was not lining up with the line by a good 45 degrees or so.
How do you remove the powervalve collar on a KDX Kips?
Grasp the protruding powervalve spindle carefully with locking pliers and pull it up slightly to partially dislodge the collar. You can then grab the collar itself and prise it out.
