Can a Softail dip stick leak down oil?

What to do if oil is in the tank?
Oil is in the engine. Do not add oil to tank! Start engine and keep at low RPM. Do not rev engine. Oil pump will return the oil to the tank. The oil will drain past the check ball in the pump if engine has not been run in a while. Let us know if this solves your problem.

Look in the filler of the tank and you can see the vent line in there. If that gets covered in oil the system can’t work right and so it blows out the oil filler cap. Also wipe the rubber seal on the cap too , you don’t want oil on it so it shoots out easily. almost has to be over full.

Been sitting 2 years, drain oil, change oil and filter. Heck tune it up before starting her. Like those guys said . Also pull the plugs and oil the cylinders then crank the engine with the plugs out for a while . Then put the plugs back in and fire it up , the pump will get the oil back into the tank .
