I checked my starter as per bobf, jumped the connection where the positive battery cable connects and the one where the solenoid connects to starter motor, and the starter whines- so my contacts must be on their way out. I’m guessing that’s what that means.

Try looking under the Seat or the left side cover . if the thing clicks look for the clicking were it’s coming from . Okay thanks sounds like a plan. Start simple. Like SCHMIDTYS said, clean, tight connections. A little sand paper or a wire brush on the posts and connectors and a screwdriver is all you need.

Try neutral with clutch pulled in. Also battery connections , solenoid wire. The security system lights only flash after I turn off the bike. I have the bike in neutral and I even tried pulling in the clutch a couple of times. I checked the wire to the solenoid and it had power.
