NOt battery if it’s new and same symptoms with the old battery. Check the connections to the starter motor. Sometimes they start to fail near the terminals. Other possibilities: spark plugs (as mentioned above), high resistance in the plug caps (if they are 35 years old, replace them), or weak coils.

Well, I will check that, but the CAS has not been off this car EVER. If the CAS failed, could it cause this? As I sit here & think things through, it’s as if while the starter is engaged (or maybe when the ignition switch is in the start position) it has no spark.
What should I do if my Yamaha outboard wont start?
Remember to check the basics. To start and run, a Yamaha outboard needs a properly timed ignition and correct air/fuel ratio. Also, be sure to check if the emergency shutoff switch cap is in place. If it still won’t crank, check the neutral switch.
Why does my Car start without the starter button?
Try starting without pushing starter button (connect wired across the starter solenoid). Check amp draw of your starter. If it’s over-amping, might be robbing all available power. Not probably but maybe. I’d say its upstream of your plugs if they ALL exhibit the same issue. NOt battery if it’s new and same symptoms with the old battery.
