Is the Mitsubishi Montero a pickup or SUV?
Ever since its first drive, we’ve commended the Mitsubishi Montero Sport as one of the most capable pickup platform vehicles (PPV) you can buy today. With its good ride (for a truck-based SUV), advanced eight-speed automatic, rugged underpinnings and seats for seven, it’s safe to say that that Montero Sport is an SUV worthy of your shortlist.
What does the Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLX look like?
While the GLX is the least expensive way to get into a Montero Sport, one can applaud Mitsubishi for not making it look basic. It looks exactly like the GLS, the base model with an automatic transmission. It has the same wheels and chrome trimmings and it even has the fog lights and roof rails from its higher-spec stablemates.
What kind of engine does a Montero Sport have?
The old Montero Sport’s engine, even in our 4×2 variant, delivered ample horsepower and torque when you put your foot down. However, it still has some remnants from older diesel engines. Namely, it’s loud. It has a pronounced growl while idling, and a high-pitched screech once you reach the higher revs.
What was the steering wheel like on the old Montero?
In the old Montero Sport, you felt its size and weight whenever your turned. It didn’t help that the steering wheel was a bit on the thin side. It was fine on straight lines and slow turns, but it could get cumbersome when you wanted to go a bit faster.
What do you need to know about Mitsubishi Montero Sport GT?
Guess you have to really use your side mirrors, which is the basic (and right) thing to do. Before 2017 ended, two important toys were added to the Montero Sport GT without increasing its price tag. First is the Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS) that controls the vehicle’s power when parking and driving through tight spaces.
