How often should you change the gearbox in a Mini Cooper?
Used Redline MTL the first change and MTF-94 the second time. I ended up swapping a Getrag 6-speed in and am very happy with that (except the price). Still, I think it’s worth changing it every 40-50K to reduce the chance of failure.
Can a rover Midland gearbox be repaired on a Mini Cooper?
Rover Midland gearboxes as fitted to early R50 MINI’s are no longer manufactured or available new even at Main Dealers…….unless there are some ‘New Old Stock’ hidden away somewhere they are all now reconditioned. a superb top notch job?

Is the second gear wheel missing on a Mini Cooper?
I had a friend who bought a new gearbox some years back from the dealer, yes it came in a crate, all brand new, and when fitted couldnt get second gear, upon removing the box again and opening the top it was found the second gear wheel was missing.
