How is a brake cable fixed on a car?
The cable is fixed by a spring onto the handbrake lever which presses on the brake shoes during actuation. I release the spring from the lever with a pair of pliers. It can be easier if you take some tension off the cable by loosening up the tensioner. Now I can remove the cable from the lever and pull the spring off.
