Why is the AC cold in my Chevy Tahoe?
From buying research to owner support, join 1.5 MILLION GM Truck Enthusiasts every month who use GM-Trucks.com as a daily part of their ownership experience. I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe with the 5.3L engine. I have an odd issue with the AC and was hoping an expert can shed some light on the problem. When the truck is driving, the AC is ice cold.
Is the AC warm when the truck is idling?
When the truck is driving, the AC is ice cold. However, when I am idling for a couple of minutes, the AC will start to blow warmer air. Almost as if the ac is turned off and only the blower is working. Can somebody please assist? Thanks.
What happens if your AC unit blows cold air?
During operation, the high pressure side of the refrigerant system can reach pressures of over 275 PSI. Use extreme caution when working around the A/C system. Never disconnect or vent the refrigerant to the atmosphere. Refrigerant can cause extreme frost bite or blindness if it comes in contact with your skin or eyes.
Where are the AC fittings on a Silverado?
Just run to your local auto parts store, find a few bottles of R-134A, and load them up into the system through the low-side fitting. The fittings will be located in the upper-left hand corner of the engine compartment (if you’re looking INTO the compartment) coming off of the condensor.
Why does my GM Truck AC keep blowing out?
The 1995 and earlier have a different circuit board layout, the transistor numbers and concept should still apply but the the locations shown in the video will be different. If you find that the transistor keeps blowing out after replacement, then its because of too much current passing thru due to a short to ground in the circuit.
Is the front of my GM Truck warm?
The gauge never went past 45psi when recharging and the front vents where still warm afterwards. This morning I decided to turn on the ac in the front while driving to work and the air was cold but it could be colder. I went and bought another can and will recharge again at lunch time and post my results.
