I bought my 2005 in 2009, it had 48K miles and had been a one owner car. It now has 162,000 and I took it to a shop to go through it front to back, to let me know their thoughts on if I should keep it or sell it. I like the car SO much, I am going to spend about $3,000 on it to make it “new” again.

Less than 5K on newer tires, no dents or scratches. Full leather seats are black and carpets are as new. All power options. Top of the line model. HWY 30+ MPG, Town driving appx. 24 mpg. All maintenance records available. Best car I ever owned! Great car! No longer made! Too bad it is no longer made! I have owned my 2007 Mercury Montego since new.

Is the Mercury Montego the best car to buy?
Without doubt, this is the most reliable and economical car that I have owned. Timeless styling, roomy, comfortable interior, and excellent reliability. Only CON is that it is a little slow off the line, but for a safe, AWD daily driver, it is the best automobile that I have owned.

Too bad it is no longer made! I have owned my 2007 Mercury Montego since new. I currently have 315,000 miles on the original motor and transmission. The motor still does not use any oil and runs good. I have the six speed automatic transmission and it also still works good.
I have owned this vehicle since Jan of 2007 (34K), Jan of 2021 now has 178K. I really like this car…that is why I have kept it so long. The major problems I have had are: at about 70K the transmission needed replacing, where the dealer wanted 5K+, I got it repaired for 2400.
