Can a steering wheel be removed from a MerCruiser?
There is no adjustment to be made on the transom area for steering alignment on ’95 and newer MerCruisers. On later model Chaparral’s if one removes the center nut with a 3/4″ socket, and manages to remove the steering wheel from the splined OEM style tilt helm, then finer adjustments can be made IMO than by removing the 6 allen head screws.
