What should I do if my Mercedes supercharger Rattle?

The service guy just called and said there was a rattle coming from the supercharger and the only way to fix it is to replace the supercharger for 3700. I told him Ill live with the rattle for a while. Car has 68k miles on it so no warranty. Anybody know if this is dangerous not to fix immediately Thanks.
