Why are there no lights on my W126 300SD?
Introduction There are many issues with the instrument cluster in my 1983 W126 300SD that I wanted to address: the dashboard dimmer had become less and less reliable and finally failed – I had no dash lights. All power to the various switch lights (ie, windoes, heat etc) is controlled by that dimmer so when it fails, you aint got no lights.
Why are the lights on my dashboard not working?
Adjust the dial or knob to see if that fixes the problem. If the switch was accidentally bumped, your dashboard lights might have been turned off. Flip the switch or turn the dial or knob up and see if the lights on your dash come on or get brighter. If adjusting the switch doesn’t work, you may have a blown fuse or bad lightbulb.

Try brake cleaner followed by electric motor cleaner rinse. If not post. The printed circuits burned and I solder them i by pass the switch and all lights work. The problem is that the battery light,and both brake lights are on also the sit belt light is on when the sit belt is engaged.
