Well, regardless of how you feel about it, headlamp washers are mandated by law in some countries. It is designed to optimize the beam of light emitted by your bulbs and reduce refraction, especially under unfavorable conditions that introduce dirt and grime to your headlight encasement.

What to do if your headlight washer is not working?
If they end up below the bottom tit on the headlight, they will try to pump as long as the lights are on. To fix the problem, flick the wipers back so that you can see the nut. With the wipers off of the headlight put the headlight on and press the washer button.
What happens when you turn off the headlight wipers?
The headlights have to be on, activate the washer fluid for windshield and the headlight ones will turn on as well. If you turn off the headlights, only the windshield washer fluid will be activated (I’m sure you know this). I’m having a similar problem where on my 1994 s500 coupe the driver’s side wiper arm is stuck in the up position.
