What causes an 83 300 D Turbo 297k to turn over?

What causes an 83 300 D Turbo 297k to turn over?

Could be bad bushing in starter that cause the armature to jam from being off centered. 83 300 D turbo 297K runs great. SOLD! If your battery is good, you need to verify engine strap is clean and secure, and battery ground cable is clean and secure, if still weak, swap in another starter.

How does a car engine barely turn over?

Basically, starter barely turns engine over. In fact it acts just like an almost dead battery would in winter. But engine and glow plugs are good, so it starts after hardly a single revolution. In my earlier post, I thought starter motor was just sticky, but even although car is driven daily, the problem has started again.

What causes a diesel engine to not start?

Diesel engines used to need three things to run: air, fuel, and compression. Now a fourth element has been added: a properly working engine computer or ECU. If your engine ran yesterday, chances are that air is not a problem (clogged filter, blocked exhaust).

Can a compression test be done on a no start diesel?

Proper compression is also a much needed part of the “no start” problem analysis. There is a time and a place for a mechanical compression test, but that test is way down at the bottom of my diagnostic test list. On the late model diesel engine, accessing a point to get the compression can be a time consuming task and there are easier ways.

What kind of engine does a 1985 Mercedes 300SD have?

I have a 1985 Mercedes 300SD Turbo Diesel with about 140,000 miles on it. Recently it’s become increasingly difficult to start, until eventually it wouldn’t start at all. It still turns over fine – I can hear the starter turning the engine (at least until I wear the battery down by trying to start it).

Why does my Mercedes 300SD Turbo not start?

The filter connects to a very short rubber tube that connects to the air intake on the turbo. When I was having trouble starting the car, I tried spraying some starter fluid into that tube. The result was that the car actually had more trouble starting directly after I sprayed starter fluid. And it seemed the more I used, the worse it started.
