Why does my classic car not have a crank?

What was the last time a Mercedes engine cranked?

What happens when the crank sensor does not work?
When the crank sensor completely fails the obvious symptom is a no start condition. Stated in a different way, the engine cranks around fine, but it doesn’t fire up. In fact, there is not even a sputter like it’s trying to start. This is because the main computer control module isn’t receiving a crankshaft input signal.
Why does my no crank no start car not start?
Inside the relay, a set of electrical contacts allows current to flow to the starter solenoid. If these contacts become corroded or extremely worn, they may not get the job done. An external starter solenoid, unlike the relay, carries high voltages.
Why does my Harley Davidson crank but not start?
There have been a few reports of a P1009 code – incorrect password also. It appears the turn signal and stalls or cranks but will not start. Why is my Harley Davidson Ultra Classic not starting?
I have a 2010 ultra classic with ABS. It is not starting. The battery voltage is 12.75 off the battery. When I turn the main switch on, I get a drop to 12.5, and when the kill switch is turned on, I get a drop to 12.38. The self test goes out and hit the start switch with nothing – no volt drop, no starter engage, no nothing. DEAD.
Where does the 12 V go in a no crank car?
With the ignition key in the on position, there should be power on the heavy gauge red wire and a strong ground on the black wire. When the ignition key is pushed to the crank position you should have an additional 12 V going into the relay and 12 V comes out on the wire that runs to the starter solenoid.

Why is the starter not turning on my Pontiac Grand Am?
If you can hear the starter motor turning but the engine isn’t turning (look at the belt) then the starter may not be engaging (in your car I believe this means that you must replace the whole starter). You can remove and test your starter to confirm whether or not the solenoid is engaging the starter.
What happens if you have a classic car that won’t start?
One of the downsides of owning a classic car is they sit for long periods of time. As we head towards the automobile with the key in hand, we often wonder if she will fire up or not. Professional mechanics divide a no start condition into two main categories. There is the scenario where the engine spins over nicely but refuses to start.
