2004 envoy front dash vents not blowing ac. Mode door actuator is said to be the culprit. Unplugged wiring hooked to new one and it cycles then stays in same position even after using mode button which leads me to think the problem is not with the actuator.

The stud on the mode door has flats on two sides and also has a piece about 1/2 long that extends beyond. This is the part that fits the shaft tightly into a hole that has small teeth. I assume this is take the slop out and for more precise drive of the door flap. This is the connection you are trying to release when you pry it apart.

The next day I Took to the shop asking them to check vaccum first, and that didnt seem to be the issue, after tests and inspection they tell me its either the in AC panel cluster itself ( part with the buttons on it.
