Where is the clock spring on a Mercedes Benz?
Once you have the steering wheel off, the clock spring is right there. I’m about to have to do this job on my car, and it shows just what you need to do.
Can a clock spring be removed from a steering wheel?
Once the steering wheel is removed you will have access to the clock spring. Remove the one Torx 30 screw that’s on the bottom of the steering wheel column. Pull out the turn signal switch with the clock spring all together. Separate the clock spring from the turning signal switch.
What should I do if I take off the clock spring?
So make sure to not open the ignition during this procedure. If you are taking off the clock spring : Mark the clock spring and angle position sensor . If you rotate the angle position sensor when the steering wheel is off and then install the steering wheel. The car will think that you have the steering wheel rotated when you are driving straight.
Can a clock spring fail on a facelift Mercedes?
That’s one advantage of the facelift version: a clockspring failure will make all of the steering wheel buttons not work, not just the horn…that’s where I am. Click to expand… lol, true story..
