What is SRS control?
An SRS airbag module, also known as the airbag electronic crash unit, controls the airbag’s deployment, stores crash data and exchanges information with the car’s engine. If your SRS module is faulty, your vehicle’s airbags may not protect you and your passengers in the case of an accident.
How does a SRS system work?
Your SRS automatically detects things such as braking, deceleration, impact location, and if there’s a passenger in the front seat. It then sends the information to the Airbag Control Unit, which figures out which seatbelts to tighten and which airbags to activate.

In most GM cars it is under the driver or passenger seat. Disconnect the positive battery cable and wait 3 min. You are now safe to unplug the airbag control module harness wiring plugs. All airbag srs components must be installed and connected properly before installing the airbag control module.
