Do you ever need transmission fluid change?
Most manufacturers recommend replacing transmission fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. If you tow, or do mostly city driving with constant changes of gears, it may be wise to change your ATF even more often. Here’s why. Your automatic transmission has a lot of moving parts.
How often should you change your transmission fluid?
While you don’t need to change the ATF anywhere near as often as the motor oil, it still doesn’t hurt to change it periodically. Doing a drain & fill every 30,000 miles will help keep the fluid fresh and avoid getting to the point where you suddenly notice problems, at which point it’s too late.
Do you have to pay for transmission fluid?

What causes transmission fluid to deteriorate over time?
Like other vital automotive fluids, transmission fluid deteriorates over time. Hard use — such as frequent stop-and-go city driving, hauling heavy loads and trailer towing — will accelerate the deterioration. That kind of driving raises the transmission’s operating temperature, and heat puts more strain on the transmission and the fluid.

When to change the transmission fluid in a car?
Transmission fluid usually is red or pink but can come in other colors. As it deteriorates, it tends to turn darker. If it is brown or black or has a burned odor, it should be changed. Those also could be signs of mechanical problems, so fresh fluid might not fix what’s ailing a transmission.

What kind of fluid does a Camry I-4 use?
Just change my 2008 Camry I-4 transmission fluid at 60,000 with WS fluid. The fluid is discolored unlike when it was new. I know that color doesn’t tell the whole story but I wish I had changed it sooner and not as written on the owners manual.
