Why are my intake rings not sealing properly?
The sealing rings are like a giant O ring, when they are soft and pliable, they seal. When they are rock hard, brittle or misaligned, they don’t seal worth a flip. Usually air flow sensor is a seperate unit, held in by some screws bolted to the air box. You should take out the air box completely and connect an aftermarket intake to the airflow sensor. If there is a separate sensor within the airbox, there should be a place where this sensor mounts on an aftermarket unit.

Why do we need low tension intake rings?
Low tension rings reduce friction and allow an engine to produce more usable horsepower. However, dyno testing has shown that it is possible to reduce static tension on the top ring too much, causing a loss of pumping efficiency (vacuum) on the intake stroke.
