An NMO mount, pictured above, stands for “New Motorola.” It’s a popular type of mounting base that’s frequently used when installing mobile antennas. It comes in two different installation types, thru-hole and magnetic.
Can you use a CB antenna for GMRS?
If you can find a GMRS antenna that uses that same mount, then you can use that mount. Not seeing the antenna mount, it’s a hard to determine if it will be optimum for radiating a signal. I’m sure the GMRS antenna is shorter that the CB antenna.
What is an NMO connector?
A popular type of antenna mount is called an “NMO” which stands for new Motorola. NMO mounts are devised to have a standard threaded connector where you screw on the antenna of choice to the mount of choice. The NMO mount itself connects to the antenna and provides the antenna cable as well.
Are so239 and pl259 the same?
UHF-Male (or UHF Plug) is THE SAME as PL-259. UHF-Female (or UHF-Jack) is THE SAME as SO-239.

Besides the brass nut on the top of the 3/8-inch hole mount, there is an adjustable nut on the bottom that is adjusted upward against the bottom of the roof or panel. Due to the design on the ¾ inch NMO mount it is installed from the outside of the vehicle to the inside thru the hole you drilled.
