Are 19-inch wheels better?
The 19-inch wheels definitely look the coolest. But the 17- and 18-inch setups offer a better compromise of grip, acceleration, price, and ride harshness, so we’re not surprised VW uses 17- and 18-inch sizes on its hot Golf, the GTI. If it’s acceleration you’re after, stick with the smaller, lighter wheels and tires.
Why are 19-inch wheels better than 17-inch?
Aside from aesthetics, there are two reasons why a 19″ wheel would be used over a 17″ wheel; improved handling due to a stiffer, shorter sidewall on the tire and room for larger brakes. Unless you intend to take your car to the track, however, these advantages don’t really apply.

How big are the tires on a Mercedes-Benz GL550?
The rims fitted perfectly. What is strange is that www.wheel-size.com shows that gl320 can use rims 18, 19, 20 and 22 and the GL550 use exactly the same size of rims but it includes size 21. On the GL320 it is not included.

Yeah they fit but might be an issue with wheel sticking out a little and sending dirt and rocks on too the car, because the gl450 does not have fender flares like the Gl550 does, some people say that it will not send dirt and rocks flying into ur car, I just need to see pictures to make sure.
