PLEASE NOTE: If you have a 1977 450SL, the thermostat is not located in the housing. Instead, it is mounted to the right side of the housing for the top hose adapter you removed. Look on the right side, just below it. Once the car is cold, begin by removing the cap on the coolant reservoir to release any residual pressure.
