It just doesnt tell you it is doing it. My 2005 E350’s battery failed last year and was replaced by MB. Shortly after an intermittend problem started where the “Convenience functions temporarily disable to protect battery” warning comes up. All convenience functions are then disabled.

How does the auxiliary battery control module work?

The battery control module monitors system voltage. If voltage reaches a low point, the auxiliary battery relay closes to connect the battery to the vehicle fuse blocks. Remember that your car may have been serviced before and had parts replaced with different size fasteners used in the replacement.
