Why does my C200 2005 say coolant VISIT WORKSHOP?
My c200 2005 is giving the ‘coolant visit workshop’ message whenever I switch off my A/C. It has done this twice now, I drove it home yesterday without the A/C on and the alarm never came on. Driving to work, I monitored the engine temp, it went to about 80C.
How to get the coolant VISIT WORKSHOP message?
It comes with the fan assy. You need to test if the fan is operating. Run the car to get the engine up to temp. Then stop leave engine running and the fan should start. If it doesn’t. Then that is your issue. I posted earlier about my message ‘Coolant visit workshop’ I only get this code when I use the A/C.

Why did my Mercedes SOS malfunction VISIT WORKSHOP?
1. Its under factory warranty (in which case I check the work) 2. The job is too big for me to do at home and too time consuming… ( I haven’t come across this one very often) I really don’t trust mechanics to do the job right or to be honest about what really needs to be done. Why does my Mercedes Benz say coolant level low?
The blown fuse set several codes related to EGR & cooling suction fan as well but only that 1 message appeared in IC to indicate anything was wrong. My CLK used to do it (coolant level low), but would go out with approx a cup of water added into the header every now and then (my driveway is on a slight slope so I think that added to the problem).
Where is the coolant sensor on a Mercedes Benz?
If you look at the header tank the sensor is an insert that screws in from underneath i.e. unplug connector and simply twist sensor to remove (you don’t have to drain system). If you have sausage fingers you might struggle. From memory the sensor was £7-8 from ECP.
Why is my engine coolant level so low?
I have checked the engine coolant level, and also the windscreen washer fluid level (which someone told me could be the cause because the w/w sensor and low engine coolant sensor were wired in series). Both fluid levels seem OK, but should I be testing for correct operation of these sensors too?
