Why did my Becker Grand Prix 754 battery die?

I too would like to know, as I have an ’86 560SL with the Becker Grand Prix 754, and the internal battery has finally died. So, any time I disconnect the car battery, it interprets it as a security threat and locks.

1983 380SL, ivory/dk brown, 46k miles, dual roller timing chain. 1986 560SL, red/white, 190K mile. radios use codes. I am wanting to learn how to reset these radios. Does anyone here know how Becker resets these radios? Or what is this “reset tool”? One posting I read suggests its a UV light but I cannot see an EPROM in this radio.

As a retired electrical engineer I have the skills to replace a battery even repair the radio given the parts are available. But the one thing I have no connection to the dealer reset tool that reloads the RAM after a battery change.
