Faulty ESP please visit workshop!! This was the message that greeted me half way home from work today! Any ideas, particularly on how much it’s going to cost me…

You have 2 sensors, the steering angle on the column and the lateral in the boot, they should be plug and play when you know which one is at fault. Would it need to be “reset” on STAR to remove the fault?

The job is too big for me to do at home and too time consuming… ( I haven’t come across this one very often) I really don’t trust mechanics to do the job right or to be honest about what really needs to be done. What to do if your ESP light does not shut off?
There are a couple professional scanners that are reasonably priced which we have listed above. If the ESP button did not shut off the ESP light, then the next thing to do is to check the fuses. Look under the hood and on the side of the dashboard and you will find two fuse boxes. In there you should have a fuse chart.

I have 2004 C240 When I had this problem the first time, the ESP light went on, the engine was still on but nothing happens when pushing the gas paddle. Thankfully I could hit the brake to stop the car on the side of the road. Turned off the engine and restarted the car.
