Why is the tailgate not closing on my Mercedes?
So the tailgate can open at everytime when driving, and that’s annoying, also because the tailgate isn’t closing when i close all doors with my key…. I had the same problem… had to change the whole interior latch… once I did it worked perfectly.

When I would push the remote lift button, it would disengage the latch but not lift. Then the latch would re-engage and shut tight.

The boot/tailgate of my 2009, ML320 CDI will no longer close automatically. It opens correctly by remote key, switch near drivers door and by operating the boot handle. However it won’t close. Any suggestions?

Someone else pointed out that if you leave the gate open, like at the dog park it goes to sleep and doesn’t wake up when you hit the button. The hydraulic pack is under the black foam subfloor under the rear floor. You can carefully remove the hydraulic pump and hold it uprite to see if it has enough fluid in it.
