Why does my Mazda 3 have a flat battery?

Just found out my remote doesn’t work for my Mazda 3 and the car dash board was all dark and not responding. I reckon it must be flat battery. Initially thought I must forgotten to turn off the light but checked that the lights were turned off. Bought the car brand new and had 2500km on it so far.
