Why are my Revs dropping at idle on my Mazda Miata?
If so this has happened to me and was a sticky/frozen idle control vale. It might have been a failing HT lead or plug (or coil-pack :S). I’d fit new plugs & leads if the current set are more than a couple of years old anyway. Give this a go first as it’s free.
Why does my Mazda MX5 cut out at junctions?
Sold my mx5 now but had the same thing on the way to a beach, it cut out about 5 times when revs dropped at junctions. Spent an hour on the beach and it worked fine after that and for the next 500 or so miles before I sold it..
What causes the Revs to drop at idle?
It could be your brake servo failing, or try checking all hoses on the inlet as it could be leaking air. Silly question, but was it a cold day? If so this has happened to me and was a sticky/frozen idle control vale. It might have been a failing HT lead or plug (or coil-pack :S).
What is the control system on a Miata?
This system consists of the air valve that functions only when the engine is cold, the ISC valve that works throughout the entire engine speed range, and the control system. The “control system” mentioned in this description is primarily the ECU (Engine Control Unit).

Why does my car rev up when idling?
If your car seems to be revved up to a higher-than-normal RPM while idling, it’s not necessarily a problem. If this problem happens while the engine is cold, it may be part of the engine’s design.

What should I do if my Mazda MX5 wont start?
Hello1st check for spark by removing one of the spark plugs and plug it back into its lead and rest it on the metal of the engine ( DO NOT hold it on place by hand) then have your assistant turn the engine over whilst you watch the plug. It should give a fat blue spark at regular intervals.
What happens when the timing is advanced on a Mazda MX-5?
Therefore as the rpm increases the ECU changes the timing so that, in a stock 1.6 litre, the advance increases through the rev range to a maximum of 36 BTDC at 5,500. See Table 1below for the transition points on a normally set up Mazda MX-5 1.6 litre running standard 10 degrees BTDC timing

What causes the engine rpm to go up when idle?
When the engine idles, there will usually be a misfire that you can feel just from holding onto the steering wheel. Furthermore, the RPM of your engine will be higher than normal when the vehicle is idling. The RPM will usually go back to normal as you accelerate the vehicle, but will increase again after you stop.
What happens when your car has a rough idle?
When your car is experiencing a rough idle, your engine may chug, vibrate, or shake while it’s running. This will cause your overall driving experience to feel rough and you’ll likely be bouncing a little bit in your seat from it.
