What does DPF mean on a Mazda 3?

Your Diesel Particulate Filter, or DPF, filters all the harmful particles from your exhaust gases, stopping them from escaping into the atmosphere. Over time these particles build up inside the filter. When they’ve built up to a certain level, your Mazda will start what’s called the ‘regeneration process’.

At one time Mazda Diesel was in high demand for transplanting into other makes 4×4’s, how things change in a few years. Apparently our few company Mazda 6 Diesels on 63 plate have had problems, new engines mentioned but unknown how many or what else has needed attention.
