Why are the cranks on my MX5 not working?
My mx5 cranks but engine does not start, mechanic suggested to replace the camshaft sensor, but still no luck still the same crank but does not start, the funny think about it after 36-48 hours the car starts no problem and then it dies after one working day and it goes back to crank no start till I leave it for a good few hours.
What to do if your Mazda MX5 won’t start?
To check this, find which of the two heavy post connectors is connected to the starter motor. Place one probe of the multimeter in this wire and ground the other (metal on the chassis). Have someone turn the key (neutral and parking brake) and check the voltage.
Why is my MX5 still trying to catch fire?
Go to pick it up and it does the whole crank/fire/die thing. Towed it home in the end and it hasn’t started yet. It is getting fuel (pulled hose off and cranked…fuel everywhere) and it is still TRYING to fire (so it’s not the cambelt or petrol pump.)
Why does my car not start when I turn the key?
This condition is usually due a failed fuel pump, a failed ignition coil, a failed ignition control module, a failed crank sensor, etc… that lets the engine crank (turn over) but does not let it start. A No Crank Condition means that the engine is not turning over when you turn the key to crank the engine.
What does CAS stand for in Mazda MX5?
CAS = Cam Angle Sensor, it’ll possibly start but fail to run if it fails.. Thankyou for that. I phoned mazda for a new one and they said it was a camshaft AND crankshaft position sensor combined. That’s a bit confusing (for me anway!)
What does advanced timing mean on a Miata?
Advanced timing means that the spark which ignites the fuel mixture in the cylinder occurs before the piston reaches top dead centerof its excursion. Factory spec for the Miata specifies standard timing as 10° before top dead center (10° BTDC) ±1° at idle speed(850 rpm).
