Does the Lexus RX450h require premium gas?
(Just remember the RX 450h requires premium gasoline.)
What does the octane rating on a Lexus RX 450h mean?
An octane rating, or octane number, is a standard measure of the performance of an engine or aviation fuel. The higher the octane number, the more compression the fuel can withstand before detonating. I believe that using regular unleaded for RX450h in the long run will damage the engine and will cost a lot to repair.
What kind of Octane does a Lexus car use?
Lexus automobiles that do not specify a higher-grade octane for optimum performance will run just fine on 87 or 89 octane. Sometimes even when your Lexus does recommend 91 octane or higher, it will still run well on 87 or 89.
Do you need premium fuel for a Lexus 450h?
Lexus literature recommends premium for the 450h, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it ran reasonably well on lower octane fuel, given that most engines will adjust timing automatically to avoid pinging.
Which is fuel grade should I use for my Lexus vehicle?
We suggest to use the minimum octane rating or higher. Use of unleaded gasoline with an octane rating lower than what is listed for your model year vehicle could potentially result in engine knocking. If the octane rating used is less than required, damage to the engine may occur and which could void the vehicle warranty.

What should the octane level be on a Lexus?
If your owner’s manual indicates an octane level of 91 or higher, it is safest to adhere to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Lexus motors are often designed with a specific grade of gasoline in mind, although they will run on lower grades if necessary.

Which is better the RX 350 or the 450h?
The RX 450h has a smaller fuel tank then the RX 350 but I am getting around a 100 miles more between fill ups with the RX 450h. The only drawback is the RX 450h does require 93 octane which compared to an RX 350 that burns 87 octane there is only a slight cost savings on fuel.
