I have been chasing a problem with the brake system on my trailer. I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado HD. Long story short, I have changed the emergency battery circuit from one that was powered by the brake circuit (from the manufacturer) to one that uses 12V from the truck.

The procedure is in your operators manual Pressing the brake pedal does not activate the trailer brake pump (EHB) trailer brakes. I have a 2013 HD with the factory integrated trailer brake controller. Today when I plugged in the fiver, NO brakes. The DIC shows nothing but the the gain set point. I can adjust the gain up and down. No messages such as “trailer connected or trailer disconnect” nor any chimes.

If I attempt to adjust the gain on the trailer, the gain digits increase and decrease; however, the output bars on the display don’t change.. and more important, the output display is not illuminated. I have checked the 30 amp fuse to the brake controller and it is good.
