Why is my climate control screen blacked out?
Before doing anything read my disclaimer & safety info. A blacked out climate control LCD screen is a very common problem among first generation Lexus LS400s. After researching possible solutions to this problem I found out that there are 4 options:
How do you reheat a climate control screen?
Reheat the solder on pad 1 while using a small flat head screwdriver to push pin 1 down into the pool of solder. Hold in place while the solder freezes (becomes solid). Now do this on the last pad. It should be attached at this point. Using this same technique finish the remaining 43 connections.
Why is my Radio not working on my Volvo V40?
They are connected in a loop, so if one node fails the system will shut down, which is why there was no audio but the screen still showed the climate settings etc. In your case, if the screen is showing nothing (not even the climate settings) then it sounds like the screen itself has failed. Do the fan control and temperature settings still work?

How do you fix a climate control unit?
1) Remove the unit from the dash. (Steps 1-8) 2) Remove the two screws on each side and remove the climate control unit from the metal brackets. 3) Remove one screw on each side. 4) Rotate a thin flat head screwdriver under this tab while pulling on the face of the unit.
