What causes a Lexus IS 250 to go off course?
On models with auto-dipping and seat memory system. The position sensor on pre 2009 models can break, causing the mirror to go wandering off course when selecting a memory position or putting the car into/out of reverse. There is a TSB covering this, which requires replacement of the mirror.

The electric power steering link assembly was the problematic part and Lexus, at that time, was replacing the component for IS250 customers at no charge. An initial thing to check is whether your VIN number was included in that special service campaign and, if so, whether the repair was performed.

4 people found this helpful. My 2014 IS 250 Lexus had the same problem with the radio working but no sound. It was a bad amp, I had it repaired at United Radio in NY. Lexus did a real smart thing installing the radio amp in the trunk/wheel well of the car where it can get damp/wet.
