Why is there no hot water on my radiator?
I drained my system earlier because I broke the radiator feed below the valve trying to undo the tightest nut in the world (still can’t undo it with the rad off the wall!), anyway I’ve fixed the problem reinstalled a new valve and capped them off.
Where is the coolant in the radiator when there is no leak?
There’s a COLD/MIN label on the tank indicating the ideal antifreeze level when the engine is cold. The coolant in the radiator should be just below the filler neck. When you are losing coolant but no leak is visible, several parts could be the guilty party.
Do you leave the engine running to check radiator fluid?
If you have driven the car a longer distance, let the engine cool for several hours. Do not leave the engine running when you check the radiator fluid level, and do not ever try to check the radiator fluid level when the engine is hot.
What does it mean when your radiator fluid is milky?
Drain and replace the fluid if it looks milky. The antifreeze should be slightly transparent and should be the original color of the fluid when you added it to the radiator. Milky or cloudy fluid is a sign that the fluid has been contaminated with oil, which indicates a serious problem with your engine.
What to do if your Radiator is leaking water?
Fill it with water, drive the vehicle until it is warm (pressurized), and crawl under the front end looking for dampness and/or drips. If the problem is not immediately apparent, try a new radiator cap. Also inspect the hose from the reservoir to the radiator for cracks or loose fittings. The leak could be from the radiator or the engine.
Why do I have water coming out of my radiator?
The leading and most common cause is corrosion in the radiator. For instance, over-filling the radiator can cause leaks from increased water pressure. A bad thermostat or a heater core can also create excessive heat and pressure on the radiator.
What to do when coolant does not drain back into radiator?
The level in the overflow bottle gets high and stays that way until i siphon it out. Fill the radiator, Install a cooling system pressure tester and pump it up to around 10 psi. Start the engine and rev it up and down, watching the pressure gauge carefully.
When do you know something is wrong with your Radiator?
While this isn’t an exhaustive list, here are the most common complaints. A common sign that something is wrong with the radiator is when your engine starts to overheat. This can be caused by a faulty thermostat. When a defective thermostat no longer opens, the engine will overheat and cause a breakdown.
