Why does my Kia Forte make a knocking sound?

I been driving my Forte since 2009, recently noticed a knocking sound during my turns, it comes from the steering shaft or system. A mechanic told me its some electronic steering system which is faulty and its also common in KIA models. Apparently there is only one company who does that and even C&C sends the cars there to service the e/shafts.
