Turns out it WAS the fuel pump. when you get in the car and turn the key to the run position (but don’t ) start it, you should hear a slight hum for 2 or 3 seconds. That’s the fuel pump building up pressure for the start.

Why does my Kia Rio not start in the morning?
Vehicle takes along time to start first thing in the morning when it starts white/blue smoke from exhaust. When it has been running no poblem starts o/k all day,just whern stood overnight. No waring lights on &glow plug simble lights up & goes out when ignion is switched on
