My 2018 kia forte is doing the EXACT same thing, its a hit and miss, so whats happening is you put the key in and the dashboard and all the lights are on, EXCEPT when turning the key forward to start the car the car will not start i turn the key back and forth and wait a few minutes sometimes longer and then it will turn on.

What kind of gas mileage does Kia Sportage get?
Highway gas mileage is decent. I like the space offered and height off ground. The roof rack is nice. Gas mileage is decent. Just lacks seating for a growing family. I like the 5 year warranty. I don’t like that the paint is peeling on all the door handles and both the front and rear badges and Kia doesn’t care since it’s out of warranty.
