Why is my leaf blower still not working?
If you’ve gone through these checkpoints and the leaf blower is still not running as it should, it may need to be serviced by a professional. In most cases, however, one of these issues is going to be the underlying cause.
How often should I Change my leaf blower spark arrestor?
While they can seem complex components of your leaf blower’s construction, spark arrestors are simple to clean and replace. Usually, they will need maintenance after 40 to 60 hours of use. You can remove any extra debris and dirt with a wire brush and soap. Here’s a quick video from eReplacement Parts on how to do this:
How often should you change the air filter on a leaf blower?
As a general maintenance rule, you should change the air filter once a year. Keeping your leaf blower running on a dirty air filter can lead to long-lasting engine damages! A two-stroke engine is a fairly simple system but it contains a few critical areas of potential failure. One of those is the fuel filter.
What makes a leaf blower catch on fire?
Spark arrestors are screens that block debris from escaping the engine. Ignited fuel in the combustion chamber can exhaust high-temperature particles. These can cause fire hazards if they accidentally land on dry leaves or wood.
What happens when a blower motor relay wears out?
Without it, the AC system will not be able to circulate any heated or cooled air. The blower motor relay controls the current used to power the blower motor, and is subject to the constant on and off switching. Over time, it can eventually wear out.
Why is the motor on my blower not working?
If there is power, pull the connector off the motor and use your multimeter to check the motor for continuity. No continuity = bad fan motor. As an aside, a fan motor with bearings on the way out draws extra current and often causes the resistor to overheat, so if you replaced the resistor because it popped my money’s on a worn fan.
When do you need a new blower motor?
If you are getting 120 volts to the motor and it is not starting then you have a blower motor problem and either need another new blower motor or a new blower motor run capacitor. If you are not getting voltage to the blower motor out of the control board then you probably need a new control board again.
What should I do if my blower fan wont come on?
You will need to test with a voltmeter and see if your fan motor is getting the required 110 to 125 volts AC out of your control board to start the motor. I would suggest setting your thermostat to the “Fan ON” position. You should be getting 120 volts out of the control board.
