Can a car not accelerate past 60 mph?
MY MACHANIC DRAINED AND FLUSHED AND IT WORKED AGAIN. BUT IT ALWAYS MAINTAINED THE WHINE. During long road trips (100+ miles) car will suddenly slow down, despite gas pedal being “floored” car will not accelerate past 60mph.
What happens if a car loses power at 75 mph?
Went on a long car trip to the Adirondacks, car lost power at 75 mph, went right down to 40 mph on interstate 87. Took car to dealer, paid $100 to get it tested for codes, nothing came up, technician drove it but of course because that is not a LONG CAR RIDE it did not do it! Sent me on my way.
Why does my car rev up when I cruise?
Usually it is with cruise on but it seems like it did it once without cruise on too. From what I remember this is an issue with lockup in the torque converter. At that speed it tends to hunt under slight throttle variations and is normal I believe. Pressing the brake while still applying gas disengages the torque converter.
When to coast to decelerate in fuel injection cars?
In fuel-injection vehicles, removing your foot from the accelerator automatically stops the flow of fuel to the engine until the engine speed drops to idle—when it starts again to ensure your car doesn’t stall. Coasting to decelerate also saves wear and tear on your brakes.
Why is coasting to decelerate more fuel efficient?
Coasting to decelerate also saves wear and tear on your brakes. Maintaining a steady speed helps your engine perform efficiently. In one study conducted in Japan, small variations in speed were shown to increase fuel consumption by as much as 20-48%.
