Is there a problem with low oil pressure?
FOUND PROBLEM! I know, everyone is probably saying “Oh man, not another low oil pressure thread” but this has a solution. I recently rebuilt my engine and have yet to put many miles on it. (working on it little by little to get it how i like) I bought a full rebuilt kit for it. including new oil pump.
What causes low oil pressure in a jeep?
Low oil pressure, if it isn’t the oil pump, is usually caused by worn engine bearings, you can try using a heavier weight oil as the outside temps rise but this is only treating a symptom not the real problem. What tennisshoes said.
What happens if your oil pump is not working?
If your oil pump isn’t working properly, it won’t be long until your engine becomes an oversized paperweight. A failed pump can lead to low oil pressure, lack of lubrication, and eventual engine failure. Step 1: Chock the wheels and set the emergency brake.
What causes high oil pressure in Chrysler 4.0L?
Today we will replace the Oil Sending Unit commonly responsible for crazy oil pressure gauge readings. The Chrysler 4.0L is one of the toughest engines out there, but even high oil pressure will cause issues. My gauge used be sitting around 40 psi, then all of a sudden it started jumping to 60 psi for quite some time.
Can a 4.0L oil pump fail on a jeep?
Superwinch…I don’t have a crystal ball but can share that the Jeep 4.0L oil pump is as reliable as any other engine’s pump. I use Melling high-volume replacement pumps at rebuild time, but I’ve never had a Jeep inline six-cylinder oil pump “fail” between normal engine overhaul points.

What should the oil pressure be on a 4.0L Wrangler?
The pressure relief valve on your stock 4.0L oil pump is set for 75 PSI, and this produces enough pressure and flow volume to maintain the necessary lubrication throughout the engine. If the engine has the same oil pressure as it did tens of thousands of miles ago, I’d call it good.
