What happens when you change the thermostat on a Jeep Wrangler?
The 4.0L engine is designed to run at that temp. Changing the thermostat to run cooler will have adverse affects on your engine. You will see plugs fouling quicker, etc.
What should the temp be in a Jeep Cherokee?
Make sure not to mix coolants as red and green coolant don’t mix well and can end up becoming a jelly like substance. The last step is to start your Jeep up and let it idle. The temperature gauge should climb to 160*, 180*, or 195* depending on what thermostat you just installed.
How do you remove a thermostat from a cylinder head?
Remove the two, 1/2 inch bolts holding the thermostat housing on. The top one is much longer than the bottom one. The serpentine belt might be in the way of the lower bolt. What should the thermostat be on a Jeep Wrangler?
Think about it… if the engine is at 210 degrees (or hotter, whatever), both a 180 and 195 degree thermostat will be fully open. There will be NO difference. On a cold day, yes an engine may run cooler with a 180 degree thermostat. Personally i changed mine out to a 180 the first week after i bought the jeep.

Can you run a no stat thermostat?
Engines with no stat will have trouble warming up, except on a hot day. Then they will run hot and not cool down from the coolant not spending enough time in the radiator to remove heat. But you can run a 180° stat. However this will not let it run cooler except on cooler days or light load.
