Why does my XJ instrument cluster stop working?
I have a 1999 XJ – and the instrument cluster occassionaly stops working — with mine, if you push on it towards the bottom (nearest the odo reset) it will reseat and continue working for months. This is the second instrument cluster – I replaced the original due to the same issue you are experiencing with a used cluster from eBay $35
What kind of gauges should I use on my 1999 XJ?
Lol I’m thinking may just go with all aftermarket gauges , speedo and tach…..trace out the indicator lights and do it custom….any thoughts on gauges? Why is the instrument cluster on my Jeep Cherokee not working?
The cluster has stopped working again too. I decided to hook my OBD2 scanner up figuring there was probably a code and I pulled the following: P1686, P1694, P1698. All of them have to do with the PCM not communicating with the instrument cluster.
Can a check engine light be removed from an instrument cluster?
The cluster acts like a mini-BCM, there will be no easy way to drive a check engine light if you remove the cluster, if you need the check engine light for IM test you will be in trouble, not to mention the fact that you will not know when you have an ECU problem.
What do you do when your instrument cluster doesn’t work?
Also when you drive the car, the speedometer and the rpm gauge doesn’t move. Everything light wise works. Everything works except the rpm, speedometer, temperature and gas gauge. All fuses and relays are good. I’ve even changed the instrument cluster and the BCM. Still none of the gauges work.

Why does my instrument cluster on my Pontiac Sunfire not work?
I have a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire with instrument cluster issues, my temperature gauge doesn’t work it is pegged way over hot and my gas gauge work occasionally. The rest of the cluster seems to be fine, now is it my cluster that is bad or the sending units that are bad? I am betting its the cluster for my 05 sunfire as well.
